Steamie Bakehouse Closure

S4M-07463 · Standard Motion · lodged by Walker, Bill

Lodged on
19 Aug 2013
Heard / answered on
Unknown
That the Parliament regrets the closure of the Steamie Bakehouse, which was a social enterprise that aimed to provide customers with a wide variety of naturally-leavened wholegrain breads that had been baked, wherever possible, from locally-sourced ingredients; believes that, by using an efficient, custom-built woodfired oven, fired with off-cuts from a local sawmill, and by lowering energy inputs and minimising waste, the Dunfermline bakery made an impressive commitment to fair trade, sustainability and the environment; considers that it was very much part of what is a growing movement in Fife, spearheaded by the Fife Diet, to encourage the use of local produce and artisan food, and wishes the former owners, Matthew Roberts and Zillah Scott, the very best in all of their future ventures.
Lodged by Walker, Bill alone — no additional MSPs have signed on.
No division on record. Either the chamber agreed this motion without a vote, it was withdrawn before debate, or it predates 2011 — vote-by-vote records only run from then.
