24 Mar 2016To ask the Scottish Government what the full-time equivalent employment figures have been in manufacturing in (a) Aberdeen, (b) Aberdeenshire, (c) Angus and (d) Dundee in each of the last five years, also expressed as a percentage of all employees in each area.
The answer
The Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES) is the preferred source of employment estimates by detailed geographical area and industry sector. BRES estimates are not available on a full-time equivalent basis, however estimates for full-time and part-time employees are published.
Manufacturing employee estimates for 2010 to 2014 in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus and Dundee City local authority areas are provided in the following tables, each for full-time, part-time and total employees.

3. Employee, full-time and part-time definitions:
Employee - An employee is anyone aged 16 years or over that an organisation directly pays from its payroll(s), in return for carrying out a full-time or part-time job or being on a training scheme. It excludes voluntary workers, self-employed, working owners who are not paid via PAYE.
Full-time employees: Those working more than 30 hours per week.
Part-time employees: Those working 30 hours or less per week.
