To ask the Scottish Government how it plans to ensure that NHS boards are appropriately resourced to deliver plans for the implementation of its new model of care, as part of the Best Start programme for maternity and neonatal care.

The answer

Since implementation of Best Start commenced in 2017 Scottish Government has provided over £30 million of funding to NHS Boards to support implementation of the Best Start recommendations.We continue to provide funding for the ongoing delivery of neonatal intensive care and continuity of carer, and to NHS National Services Scotland for the Perinatal Network.
