A Musical Tribute to Miners who Lost their Lives at Pits in Ayrshire and Across Scotland

S6M-11729 · Standard Motion · lodged by Dowey, Sharon

Lodged on
19 Dec 2023
Heard / answered on
Unknown
That the Parliament applauds what it sees as the selfless work of Ayrshire guitar and ukulele group, Strings n Things, and the recent launch of their five-track album, Darkness into Darkness; understands that the album pays tribute to all the miners who lost their lives at pits in Ayrshire and across Scotland; congratulates them on their collaboration with Findlay Napier and Sir James McMillan, who, it understands, helped guide the process, which was supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Shire Homes, Cumnock Tryst and The Coalfield Communities Landscape Partnership; notes that the album is available from Cumnock Heritage Centre and Auchinleck Library, with all donations very welcome for what it sees as such a deserving cause, and wishes Strings n Things all the very best and every success for the future.
No division on record. Either the chamber agreed this motion without a vote, it was withdrawn before debate, or it predates 2011 — vote-by-vote records only run from then.
