That the Parliament congratulates Kevin Brown of the Wee Haven Youth (WHY) Project on winning the Edinburgh Local Hero Award at the Local Hero Awards 2023; understands that Kevin Brown is a co-founder of the WHY Project, which provides open access youth work to young people across Wester Hailes and the south west of the city of Edinburgh; further understands that the WHY Project is currently working with over 120 young people on a weekly basis, delivering youth clubs, weekend groups, holiday provision and signposting support for families; notes what it sees as the invaluable work carried out by the youth work team and the board of trustees, and the ongoing support locally; appreciates that the 10th Local Hero Awards welcomed over 200 attendees from across the city to celebrate the residents of Edinburgh and surrounding areas and acknowledged what it considers to be unsung community heroes across 13 categories, and recognises Kevin as a well-deserved winner for his hard work and passion for youth work.
