That the Parliament congratulates the athletes from Newarthhill Boxing Club on their recent success across all age categories in Scottish competitions in 2021, including four gold medals at the Scottish Schools and Junior Championships and two elite gold medals in the Western District Championships; understands that these sporting successes have been achieved while the Club was recovering from a devastating fire that destroyed its gym in July 2020, and considers that the Club’s competitive achievements were only possible through the dedication and resilience of the volunteers, coaches and athletes, who it understands trained in car parks and other public spaces before being able to access a temporary training facility that was generously provided by another local gym owner.
