That the Parliament expresses its sadness at the death of David Myles CBE; recognises David's wide contribution to public life, beginning with his career in the Royal Marines before being elected as MP for Banffshire from 1979 to 1983 and later as a member of Angus Council in 1984; appreciates that he was actively involved in helping to deal with agricultural and rural issues, including sitting on the boards of many important organisations, such as the Angus Tourist Board from 1984 to 1992, the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board from1985 to 1988 and the Potato Marketing Board from 1988 to 1997, and recognises his work chairing the Dairy Produce Quota Tribunal for Scotland from 1984 to 1997; offers its sympathy and condolences to David's family and friends, and recognises the high esteem in which he was held by colleagues from all parties, his sense of humour, and the effective way that he represented the people of the north east.
