S5M-15179 · Standard Motion · lodged by Johnstone, Alison

Lodged on
17 Dec 2018
Heard / answered on

That the Parliament welcomes the efforts by Edinburgh City Korfball Club to build on its recent success at the European Korfball Championships in October 2018, at which its players, alongside others from the University of Edinburgh and from the current Scottish League champions, Edinburgh Mavericks, helped Scotland secure automatic qualification for the next championships, which take place in 2020; understands that korfball is a mixed-gender sport, with two teams of eight aiming to score a goal into a moulded basket on top of a 3.5 metre post; recognises that Edinburgh City will host a free beginners’ session aimed at introducing newcomers to the sport, and perhaps other sport in general, on 12 January 2019 at the national sports performance centre in Edinburgh, Oriam Scotland, and encourages anybody interested in learning a new sport to head along and try their hand at korfball.
