West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust Wins Sports Facilities Fund for Local Community

UnknownThat the Parliament congratulates West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust on its award of £47,000 from the Sports Facilities Fund (SFF) toward its project, which has a total value of £145,000; acknowledges that the SFF supports capital projects that create or improve places where people take part in sport and physical activity, providing opportunities for people to get involved and participate in sport and physical activity; recognises that the development trust was chosen for its commitment to equalities and inclusion, participation and progression; notes that the award will allow the trust to construct a new skate park to serve four adjacent villages; further notes that the need for a skatepark was arrived at through consultation with local groups and that it provides an alternative form of physical activity for those not necessarily engaged in traditional sport; praises the trust on its plans to invest in coaching sessions for women and girls, and in a programme to encourage experienced wheeled-sport users to mentor beginners, and wishes it every success in its aims and for the future.
