To ask the Scottish Government what discussions it has had with the UK Government regarding the implications of the European Withdrawal Act 2018 for publicly-owned and operated ferry services.

The answer

Scottish Ministers and officials are engaging with the industry and with the UK Government to ensure that Scottish interests are well represented in discussions being led at Westminster.
Discussions with the UK Government have included the implications of the Withdrawal Act for subsidised ferry services and we have regularly stressed the need to avoid negative impacts on lifeline services – and Scottish shipping in general.
