Mental Health Services<br />(Deaf and Deaf-blind People) (PE808)
Our first current petition is PE808, by Lilian Lawson, on behalf of the Scottish Council on Deafness, which calls on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to develop and establish a specialist in-patient mental health unit for deaf and deaf-blind people and to provide resources—for example, training—for mainstream psychiatric services in the community to make them more accessible to deaf and deaf-blind people in Scotland. At its meeting on 23 February 2005, the committee agreed to write to the Scottish Executive, the John Denmark unit in Manchester and the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. Responses have now been received and circulated. Do committee members have any comments to make on them?
