Meeting of the Parliament 27 January 2026 [Draft]
Amendment 22 would place an obligation on our public bodies and officeholders to take the biodiversity targets into account when they are fulfilling their public sector biodiversity duty. By linking that biodiversity duty with the new statutory targets, amendment 22 would ensure that the whole public sector is aligned behind our biodiversity ambitions, something that we would all agree is essential. That would reduce the risk of having a top-down framework and would ensure that the delivery of those ambitions is considered across the public sector.
For those reasons, I urge members to support amendment 22 and will leave other members to speak to the other amendments in the group.
I move amendment 22.
