Public Petitions Committee 24 March 2021

24 Mar 2021 · S5 · Public Petitions Committee
Item of business
Continued Petitions
Prescribed Drug Dependence and Withdrawal (PE1651)
I thank the petitioner Marion Brown for bringing the petition to the committee. Progress has been made on it—not everything that the petitioner wants, but the short-life working group has made draft recommendations that are out for public consultation and the petitioner is able to feed into that consultation. I do not think that the committee can take it any further, but if there are specific issues that the petitioner is not happy with, that would be reflected better in a new petition in the new session of Parliament, which could highlight the issues and bring them forward to the committee. Therefore, I am happy to close the petition under rule 15.7 of standing orders.
