Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee 16 March 2021

Item of business
Covid-19 (Impact on Businesses, Workers and the Economy)
MacDonald, Gordon SNP Edinburgh Pentlands Watch on SPTV
It is good news that we are supporting young people to go into training, an apprenticeship or employment, where it is available. Another issue that we have to contend with is underemployment, which might take many forms. People might want more hours in their current job, they might want a replacement job with longer hours or they might want an additional job. Has any analysis been done of the labour market for young people to consider the number of people who are currently underemployed? Can the Government do anything to support people to get the additional hours that they want?
