Meeting of the Parliament 27 November 2019
I thank the Liberal Democrats for lodging today’s motion on mental health. I associate myself with what has been said about the frankly shocking statistics on police mental health, which Willie Rennie so eloquently covered in his opening speech. It is worth reminding ourselves that the police are more often than not first responders at an increasing number of incidents, and are dealing with ever-more alarming and distressing circumstances. It is imperative that we adequately support our police force in that regard.
We all have mental health. How we look after and treat mental health has rightly become a higher priority across society.
