Business Motions

The next item of business is consideration of business motion S5M-13747, in the name of Graeme Dey, setting out a business programme. Members may recall that, following the recommendation of the commission on parliamentary reform, the Parliament agreed yesterday to vary the rule on business motions to allow any members to speak on the motion, at my discretion, although no member has indicated that they wish to do so.

I call Graeme Dey to move the motion on behalf of the Parliamentary Bureau.

(c) that, in relation to any debate on a business motion setting out a business programme taken on Wednesday 12 September, the second sentence of rule 8.11.3 is suspended and replaced with “Any Member may speak on the motion at the discretion of the Presiding Officer”.—[Graeme Dey]
