Meeting of the Parliament 12 March 2014
The cabinet secretary announced only recently more funding for more part-time courses, childcare and places for women. However, it is important to remember that women are not in the minority in our college sector. The majority of college students are women. In the context of college reforms, it is important to have the right balance. If we are serious about tackling occupational segregation, we need to get more women into full-time courses for recognised qualifications that are more economically relevant and which will lead to employment.
