That the Parliament congratulates Carr’s Flour Mill in Kirkcaldy on reaching its 200th anniversary in 2026; notes that the mill traces its origins to 1826, when Robert Hutchison established a grain processing enterprise on the Kirkcaldy waterfront, developing a business that has become one of Scotland’s most enduring industrial success stories; recognises it as one of only a small number of remaining such mills in Scotland and as a major contributor to the nation’s food manufacturing sector; acknowledges its long-standing role in supplying flour to bakers, food producers and retailers across Scotland and the wider UK, helping to support the production of everyday staples, ranging from bread and rolls to biscuits and traditional Scottish baking; commends the company for continuing to invest in modern milling technology while maintaining centuries-old skills and expertise; notes the importance of the mill as a significant local employer and economic anchor for Kirkcaldy and Fife, supporting almost 100 jobs and contributing to food security and the resilience of domestic food supply chains; welcomes the company’s participation in initiatives promoting Scotland’s rich baking heritage, including its support for the recently launched Scottish Bakers' Trail; notes the strong links between the mill and Kirkcaldy’s maritime, industrial and commercial history through its prominent position at the town’s harbour; recognises the generations of employees, millers, engineers, transport workers and support staff whose commitment has sustained the business over two centuries, and wishes everyone at Carr’s Flour Mill continued success as it celebrates this remarkable bicentenary milestone.
