I have set out that the budget provides real-terms increases, with £15.7 billion for local government and almost £22.5 billion for health and social care. If there are members in the chamber who think that that is inadequate, they need to tell us by how much and where the money would come from. I did not hear that in the course of the budget bill. It is easy to demand more money without saying where the money should come from.
There is a question whether the money in the system is working as effectively as it could. My suggestion and request to the Parliament in the next session is that it looks at whether local systems and their resources are working as intended.
