Just to be clear, in the statement by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions setting out the UK Government position, she did not say, “I don’t agree with the ombudsman’s suggestion and recommendation for compensation, but we will go away and have a look at it.” Instead, the UK Government has closed the door to the WASPI women at this point. The point that we need to get to is action. Surely, the best way—the quickest way—to do that is to support the ombudsman’s recommendation. Let us get past the debate and get on to delivery.
