Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete
Thank you, convener. I am interested to understand the extent to which RAAC is significantly different from other building materials. Our briefing says that if RAAC is not manufactured, installed or maintained correctly, that can lead to problems, but I suspect that that is probably true of any building material. I would like to understand, from your technical perspective, the extent to which RAAC is fundamentally different from other materials that are used in building. Does it need a different approach to what you would normally expect with buildings? As has been said, there needs to be good maintenance and monitoring of the condition of the fabric.
