Transport (Scotland) Bill: Stage 2
This provision might answer every call for an exemption, including mine. Under the heading, “Time-limited exemptions”, section 12 of the bill says: “A low emission zone scheme may provide for the granting and renewal, by the local authority which made the scheme, of a time-limited exemption in respect of a vehicle or type of vehicle for the purpose of section 1(1)(b).” If a local council were approached by a historic vehicles association, community transport body, or the Showmen’s Guild, in respect of a particular function—such as a fair, funfair or show of historic vehicles going down Princes Street—could it grant an exemption in respect of any LEZ for a particular time, day, or period?
