The local policing plans are very much about the divisional commander engaging with local communities, community safety partnerships, community planning partnerships and so on to work out how the service will look for communities. The proposed plans were not developed in isolation by me and my team; they were produced in consultation with local command teams on the basis of existing interim plans and how we build towards the future.The key bit for me is how we start to develop alternatives such as surgeries, work in communities, and community officers working with partners to deliver the service more effectively. That work is already in train.
