The key messages report states that councils have reported that clearing the maintenance backlog would cost"around £1.5 billion, including £900 million for road repairs".However, the report continues:"The Executive, using more detailed information than that available from the SRMCS, has calculated that the structural maintenance backlog for trunk roads is around £100 million, with a further £72 million required for routine repairs and £60 million for bridges."Does the Executive accept the councils' figure? You heavily qualified your statement on whether the figure is robust, but what exactly is that qualification? Are there holes in the calculations?
