As other members have no comments, I will make some of my own. The amendments in this group are predicated on the need to plug a loophole that seems to exist in the present law, which resulted in an inability to prosecute in the case of the Uddingston fire that resulted in the tragic death of a number of elderly people. I make no comment on that specific case, but it is important that when there is culpability, the Crown is able to proceed.
